  • Overview

Your life’s passion is rooted in empowering students to realize their full potential and you believe that there is no one set path for success, but rather multiple post-secondary education pathways for students. You connect in a deeply meaningful way to how education that guides students to identify their strengths and think critically about the world can position them to uplift themselves and their communities.

The Charles Koch Foundation’s educational partnerships team is looking for someone like you to help drive the Foundation’s efforts to ignite an environment that empowers students to identify and develop their unique strengths, build their knowledge and skills, and apply what they’ve learned to prepare for a meaningful career in society. As a program officer, you will play a primary role in managing important partnerships with unique organizations like Openstax, the United Negro College Fund and Thurgood Marshall College Fund, trusted partners who not only play a critical role in helping students identify and develop their strengths, but remove barriers to educational opportunity and ensure more students have access to a quality education. In this program officer job you will further the growth of an exceptional and meaningful grants portfolio through engagement and evaluation of potential opportunities.

This opportunity will position you to drive meaningful philanthropic impact and apply your experience to what you are most passionate about.

    Your Responsibilities Include

    • Drive relationships with a growing portfolio of partnerships, acting as a primary liaison and guide through the grant process
    • Actively seek out organizations doing exciting things to remove barriers to students in higher education and identify ways we can bring grantmaking and complementary capabilities to support their work and impact
    • Identify opportunities to grow the portfolio and scale our partners’ impact
    • Evaluate the performance of the portfolio on an ongoing basis and measure results
    • Act as an internal resource to drive collaboration between teams on the support, progress, and outputs of partnerships
    • Travel as needed to manage relationships

Knowledge and Skills You Bring to the Organization

    • 7+ years of overall professional experience, 5+ years of related experience in relationship management, program development, fundraising, grant making, philanthropy, or another related field at a senior level
    • Proven ability to build effective coalitions and networks both internally and externally to achieve progress toward a shared vision
    • A commitment to the Foundation’s vision
    • Capability to exercise good judgment through critical thinking
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize while driving multiple concurrent projects to completion
    • Exceptional interpersonal skills and professionalism

    Standout Candidates May Also Bring

    • Experience working in academia, post-secondary education, or related industries
    • Supervisory experience
